After months of announcements stating that reservations could be made during the first quarter of the year, it seems that finally, as of this Tuesday, April 22, it will be possible to complete the process to obtain your authorization to drive and park your car or motorcycle in Formentera during the regulated period of 2025. It’s important to note that this measure does not apply to the fleet of rental cars and motorcycles on the island.

The Consell’s official website, formentera.eco, has opened the reservation system for anyone wishing to move around the island between June 1 and September 30, the dates when restrictions established by Law 7/2019 on environmental sustainability of Formentera are enforced.

This regulation aims to promote sustainable mobility, preserve the island’s natural environment, and prevent overcrowding of vehicles on Formentera’s roads and paths during the peak tourist months.

In this way, the goal is to ensure a more organized experience that aligns with the limited capacity of the territory, benefiting both visitors and residents of Formentera.

Who needs to apply for authorization?

The regulation applies to all vehicles circulating on the island during the period from June 1 to September 30, 2025. This includes visitors, transport companies, and residents of Ibiza, who have a special daily quota of spaces reserved for them.
This year, the formentera.eco project has set a daily limit of 1,732 cars and 122 motorcycles for visitors. For residents of Ibiza, an additional quota of 235 car spaces and 50 motorcycle spaces per day is reserved.

Fees and rates for driving in Formentera

The fees to obtain authorization for your own vehicle (not for rental vehicles from the island) vary depending on the month.
• July and August:
Cars: €9 per day (minimum fee of €45)
Motorcycles: €4.50 per day (minimum fee of €22.50)
• June and September:
Cars: €6 per day (minimum fee of €30)
Motorcycles: €3 per day (minimum fee of €15)
