Formentera once again became a showcase for the island’s creative talent with the latest edition of the Formentera Fashion Show. The event brought together ten local brands to present their newest collections at a runway event that has firmly established itself as a benchmark for the sector.
The eighteenth edition featured a staging inspired by astronomical phenomena, drawing on the light and visual effects created during a solar eclipse. This theme served as the guiding concept for an evening dedicated to fashion, design, and creativity.
In addition to showcasing the work of the island’s designers, the runway highlighted values such as craftsmanship, sustainability, and inclusion, presenting collections that embraced a variety of styles and diverse representation on the catwalk.
The event was organised by the Consell Insular de Formentera, with the support of PIMEF and the collaboration of several local businesses, which contributed to the success of one of the most important events on the island’s annual calendar.
An Edition Inspired by the Light of a Solar Eclipse
Plaça de la Constitució in Sant Francesc hosted the XVIII Formentera Fashion Show on Friday, July 3, starting at 10:00 pm. This year’s edition was held under the theme “Aura”.
The organisers explained that the concept was inspired by the light and glow produced during a solar eclipse, creating an atmosphere defined by shimmering effects, backlit silhouettes, and the power of creativity. As part of the experience, attendees were given special eclipse glasses to observe the solar eclipse expected on August 12.
Ten Brands Unveiled Their New Collections
The runway featured ten Formentera fashion brands presenting their latest collections. The participating labels were Misari Swims, specialising in swimwear; Marziposa, dedicated to lingerie; El Ikigai Design; Kavra de Formentera; Pahiesa; Flor del Nilo; Coser i Cantar; Simona Colzi; Molly Mallone; and Equilibre.
The collections included swimwear, lingerie, handcrafted fashion, sustainable designs, and creations inspired by the Mediterranean landscape and nature, reflecting the creative diversity of the island’s designers.
Local journalist Jahmila Canale and presenter Ale Sánchez hosted the fashion show. The collections were showcased by models from the Ibiza-based agency DC Models, joined by a model from the Divergent association. Through this participation, the organisers reinforced their commitment to a more inclusive and representative fashion industry.
Local Businesses Support the Event
The XVIII Formentera Fashion Show also received the support of several local companies involved in organising the event. Formentera Lines backed the runway show, while Jurí Cosmetics provided product samples for use backstage.
Make-up was handled by Cata Picca, while hairstyling was carried out by the beauty salon La Mary, whose team prepared the models before they stepped onto the catwalk.
