Festes de Sant Jaume 2025
Formentera, July 22, 2025
The Festes de Sant Jaume are one of Formentera’s most emblematic celebrations — a unique opportunity to experience local culture up close, enjoy activities for all ages, and immerse yourself in a festive atmosphere filled with music, tradition, and celebration.
These festivities not only honor Sant Jaume (Saint James the Apostle), the island’s patron saint, but also serve as a platform for both local and national artists, offering a wide range of cultural events. From massive concerts to more intimate gatherings, the schedule has been carefully curated to deliver unforgettable experiences throughout the town of Sant Francesc.
During the festival days, the hub of activity is the Plaça de la Constitució, hosting most of the main concerts and events. However, other venues like the Jardí de ses Eres, the Centre Antoni Tur “Gabrielet”, and the Centre de Dia also come alive during the celebration.
This 2025 edition has stood out especially for its diversity, accessibility, and family-friendly focus. Whether you’re looking for concerts, cultural events, or traditional activities, Sant Jaume 2025 has something for everyone.
The festivities began on July 11 with the presentation of the book Formentera, by architect Henri Quillé, at the Centre Antoni Tur “Gabrielet”. It was a literary evening led by his daughter, Tanit Quillé, offering an intimate perspective on the island and its architectural legacy.
On July 23, the Plaça de la Constitució will burst with color and joy thanks to the street parade Girafes, by Xirriquiteula Teatre. The event will be followed by a lively family concert by the band Xiula, guaranteed to delight the youngest members of the family.
July 24 marks the beginning of official events with the celebration of Formentera Day. A more intimate gathering will take place at the Jardí de ses Eres, featuring performances by Lucía Herranz Roig and Miquel Tur Torres, promising a deeply emotional evening for all attendees.
That same night, the Plaça de la Constitució will come alive with an electrifying Concert Night, featuring performances by Seguridad Social, General Levy, and DJ Giorgio Sampler. A must for fans of national rock, reggae, ska, and electronic music.
July 25, the main day of Sant Jaume, will begin with the traditional mass at the Sant Francesc Church, followed by a popular ballada with local folk groups Es Pastorells and Es Xacoters. In the evening, the concerts will continue with headlining acts Maria Hein and Els Catarres, two musical forces making waves on the national scene.
On Saturday, July 26, the festivities continue with the theatrical concert Les metamorfosis at the Sala de Cultura, performed by the group Sol Post. Later on, the Nit Jove will bring the best youth vibe with artists like Tur, Flaco Fer, Gawchito, and Day-N, starting at 10:00 p.m. in the plaza.
On Sunday, July 27, the day will start with a Cantada Pagesa performed by local singers, followed by a ballroom dance session with DJ Karlos at the Centre de Dia. That evening, the plaza will be filled with jazz, courtesy of the Joan Soler Trio and special guests, offering an elegant and melodic night.
During these days, the John Tunks Memorial Tennis and Padel Tournament will also take place, with children’s, women’s, and men’s categories — a great opportunity to combine sport and celebration.
On Monday, July 28, the Paisatges essencials exhibition by artist Enric Riera will open at the Sala d’Exposicions “Ajuntament Vell”, running through September 9.
On Tuesday, July 29, the festivities will close with a cinematic touch: an open-air screening of Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans by F.W. Murnau, accompanied by live piano from Jota Hidalgo. The screening will take place at 10:00 p.m. in the Jardí de ses Eres, offering a perfect farewell under the stars.
I’m Ramón Tur, the person behind everything written and photographed on this website about Formentera. I discovered the island in 1972 when my parents, aboard the mythical Joven Dolores, took me on vacation from Ibiza for the first time, and it was love at first sight that has only grown stronger over time, making Formentera my place of residence for many years now.
