Es Pujols 2025

Formentera, July 11, 2025

As July arrives, the tourist hub of Es Pujols gets ready to experience one of the most cherished events on Formentera’s festive calendar: the Festes del Carme. This celebration, dedicated to the Virgin of Carmen, patron saint of the sea, is a must-attend for both locals and visitors alike—where religious tradition blends seamlessly with music, joy, and local culture.

For three days, the streets and squares of Es Pujols will be filled with color, festivities, and dancing. From early evening until the early hours of the morning, a wide range of activities will take place, designed for all ages. The program mixes religious events, open-air parties, and live music performances, all set against the privileged seaside backdrop.

In 2025, the schedule is committed to keeping Formentera’s cultural roots alive while embracing festive elements that have evolved into true symbols of the island’s summer spirit.

Whether it’s out of devotion, for the fun, or simply to enjoy moments outdoors, the Festes del Carme in Es Pujols offer an authentic experience that perfectly captures the identity of the people of Formentera.

Friday, July 18: Let the party begin

The festivities kick off on Friday the 18th at 11:00 p.m. with the Sound Party, the perfect event for anyone wanting to start the celebration with energy. The stage will be set up on Avinguda de Miramar, right at the beginning of the Passeig Marítim—one of the liveliest and most frequented areas in Es Pujols.

The night will feature sets by Federico Chimirri and Alex Abril, two DJs promising a vibrant selection of tracks—ideal for dancing under the stars and soaking up the festive vibes already spreading across the island.

Saturday, July 19: Flower Power Formentera

One of the summer’s most anticipated events returns with a new name: Formentera’s iconic Flower Power party is now called Planet Flower, as the original name has been a registered trademark of the Pacha Group for several years. However, aside from the name change, the essence of the party remains untouched.

Starting at 10:30 p.m., the Plaça d’Europa will transform into a kaleidoscope of color, light, and 70s nostalgia. Most attendees—dressed in psychedelic outfits or hippy-inspired looks—will enjoy a night that celebrates the music and free spirit of the 60s and 70s. It’s a celebration that knows no age or borders, bringing together people from all over the world who return to Formentera year after year.

The lineup of DJs leading the night features familiar names for fans of this retro, high-energy music scene.

DJ Pharma

Behind the name DJ Pharma is Pep Lluís Ribas, pharmacist by day in Sant Ferran and DJ by night . His connection to music goes back to childhood, influenced by his sister and the sounds of the 70s. His involvement with Flower Power parties marked a turning point in his career, making him one of the island’s leading figures in retro and festive music culture.

Joan Ribas

Joan Ribas is a legendary name in Ibiza’s music scene. He began his journey at 15 on the radio and quickly became a fixture in the most iconic bars of Ibiza’s port. For nearly 20 years, he was a resident DJ at Pacha Ibiza, where he left a lasting impression. His style blends elegance, deep experience, and a passion for vinyl that comes through in every set.

Javi Box

Javi Box, the stage name of Javi Riera, is an Ibiza-based DJ who lives every minute in the booth with intensity. Raised among vinyl records and guitars, he was influenced by bands like The Beatles, Talking Heads, and Radio Futura. His musical identity solidified with the discovery of the mod movement. Now, at 53, he still embodies that stylish, music-loving spirit that resonates strongly with audiences in both Ibiza and Formentera.

Sunday, July 20: The seafaring procession

The final day of the festivities, Saturday the 20th at 6:30 p.m., is devoted to the most solemn and traditional part of the program: a mass in honor of the Virgin of Carmen, followed by the seafaring procession. In this emotional tribute, local fishermen and sailors pay homage to their patron saint by carrying her on a symbolic voyage along the coast.

The day concludes with a ball pagès in the Plaça d’Europa—an authentic display of Formentera’s folklore, where local groups bring traditional dances to life with typical costumes, live music, and an atmosphere deeply rooted in the island’s identity.

I’m Ramón Tur, the person behind everything written and photographed on this website about Formentera. I discovered the island in 1972 when my parents, aboard the mythical Joven Dolores, took me on vacation from Ibiza for the first time, and it was love at first sight that has only grown stronger over time, making Formentera my place of residence for many years now.
