Chiringuito Bocaboca Formentera: Opening Date

Chiringuito Bocaboca was the fifth of the eight beach kiosks in Formentera to open and start the summer season of 2024 at the location previously occupied by Kiosk Cala Saona, also known as Kiosk den Ribas. Since July 27, 2024, and at least until the end of the current concession in 2030, this new kiosk will be responsible for providing food, drink, and music to those who choose to enjoy Cala Saona beach and its spectacular sunsets.

Like the other new kiosks in Formentera, Chiringuito Bocaboca in Cala Saona beach will have a size of 60 square meters divided between the working area, covered public service area, shaded area, and public restrooms.

Due to its location on a small cliff in this area, the kiosk’s construction stands out for its height and impressive appearance compared to the other beach kiosks in Formentera. The views from the terrace of Chiringuito Bocaboca are spectacular, especially on days when the waters of the cove are calm, offering the full range of blues of the Formentera sea.

How to get to Chiringuito Bocaboca?

To get to theBeach Kiosk Bocaboca, follow these simple directions:

1. Take the road towards Cap de Barbaria. About 2 kilometers after Sant Francesc, you will see a right turn with signs pointing to Cala Saona.
2. Drive 1.5 kilometers on this narrow road, especially cautious if you’re driving at sunset as the sun can easily glare directly into your eyes.
3. You will come across a wide dirt path on the left with signs indicating Punta Rasa.
4. Drive at a moderate speed on this and any other dirt roads on the island.
5. Stay on the main path for 1.3 kilometers until you see a sign on the right indicating Cala Saona Beach.
6. In just 100 meters, you will reach the southern end of Cala Saona, and Beach Kiosk Bocaboca will be just a few meters away, heading towards the beach.

Opening Hours at Chiringuito Bocaboca

El Chiringuito Bocaboca opens its doors every summer day from around 10:00 in the morning until sunset, which, by the way, is one of the best spots to enjoy the visual spectacle of bidding farewell to the day while sipping on a mojito at the stunning Cala Saona in Formentera.

The closing time varies depending on the changes in the sunset schedule throughout the year.

During the winter months, Chiringuito Bocaboca opens from Friday to Sunday, as well as on public holidays, from 11:00 in the morning until sunset.
It remains closed for one month each year between January and March.

Chiringuito Bocaboca Formentera – Project

Chiringuito Bocaboca is the new beach kiosk at Cala Saona, replacing the former Kiosk Cala Saona or Kiosk den Ribas. The concession for this beach kiosk was awarded to Mar i Platja 2 S.L., owned by Ibiza-based entrepreneurs and brothers, Damian and José Verdera.

With extensive experience in various business sectors, including yachting and hospitality with hotels and apartment groups on the neighboring island, they have chosen to manage one of Formentera’s beach kiosks this time.

This kiosk offered the highest annual management fee among Formentera’s beach kiosks, reflecting the high expectations of the Verdera brothers. Understanding the importance of having a competent team familiar with the local environment, they contacted Formentera residents with prior experience in beach kiosk management to handle the day-to-day operations at Chiringuito Bocaboca.
