Formentera Sona

Music at Sa Senieta

Formentera, 9 September 2025

September brings back to Formentera a must-attend event for music lovers: the Formentera Sona Festival celebrates its second edition following the success of 2024. The island is getting ready for a weekend where different musical styles and genres come together on a single stage.

For three consecutive days, from 26 to 29 September, the programme features performances ranging from flamenco jazz to classical music with contemporary touches. The event maintains the open and accessible spirit of its first edition, with free admission for all.

The festival is supported by the Consell de Formentera and directed artistically by Úrsula Pomar and Elvira Ramón, two key figures who are reaffirming their commitment to bringing culture closer to both residents and visitors through this project.

The second edition of Formentera Sona offers a unique opportunity to enjoy music in a stunning setting during one of the island’s calmest and most authentic times of the year.

7xMedio: Flamenco Jazz

On Friday 26 September at 8:00 PM, the curtain rises with 7xMedio, a project featuring renowned musicians such as Jorge Pardo, Josemi Carmona and Javier Colina. Their music is rooted in flamenco and ventures into jazz and African-American rhythms, delivering a fresh, improvisational style.

Barry y Mayumi Sargent

On Saturday 27 September, also at 8:00 PM, the programme continues with Duelo de Violines, performed by Barry and Mayumi Sargent. Father and son share the stage in a show that blends virtuosity and humour, with a repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary music, including touches of comedy and world music.

Con-Fusión Project

On Sunday 28 September, the festival wraps up with Con-Fusión Project, a group formed in 2022 that fuses flamenco, jazz and classical music. Known for their album 12.12, which won the Enderrock Award in 2024, the group brings a vibrant musical language full of emotion and promise.

For residents and visitors

The Formentera Sona Festival aims to establish itself as a cultural landmark on the island. For residents, it offers the chance to enjoy high-quality live music without leaving Formentera; for visitors, it provides a top-tier cultural alternative during a quieter, more genuine time of year.

I’m Ramón Tur, the person behind everything written and photographed on this website about Formentera. I discovered the island in 1972 when my parents, aboard the mythical Joven Dolores, took me on vacation from Ibiza for the first time, and it was love at first sight that has only grown stronger over time, making Formentera my place of residence for many years now.
