Chiringuito Amar en Formentera: An Unforgettable Experience

Chiringuito Amar, which first opened as Chiringuito Amagatai in July 2024, is strategically located in the heart of Migjorn Beach, one of the most pristine stretches of Formentera’s coastline. This chiringuito has replaced the much-loved Kiosko Lucky, becoming a new culinary and social landmark on the island. Since its opening, it has captured the essence of Formentera, offering visitors a space to unwind, savor delicious food, and take in breathtaking Mediterranean views.

With a welcoming atmosphere that blends the island’s authenticity with high-quality service, Chiringuito Amar has become a must-visit for those looking to experience the true spirit of Formentera. Both tourists and locals find here a haven where good food and nature come together to create unforgettable moments.

Chiringuito Amar: Construction and Design

The kiosk’s construction stands out thanks to the use of large natural wooden planks in a horizontal arrangement, left untreated to preserve their organic and authentic feel. This design draws inspiration from the traditional fishermen’s huts that dot Formentera’s coastline, establishing a deep connection with the island’s history and surroundings.

Additionally, Chiringuito Amar has partnered with renowned local artist Sol Courregues Boné, whose signature pieces enrich the décor. These artistic touches not only beautify the space but also strengthen its cultural ties to Formentera, making the chiringuito a unique destination that combines art and tradition.

A New Name, the Same Essence

Chiringuito Amar, previously known as Amagatai, adopted its new name following a legal dispute over the registration of “Amagatay” with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office. While the name change could have posed a challenge, the team behind the chiringuito turned it into an opportunity to reaffirm its identity.

The new name, Amar, symbolizes a love for Formentera and a commitment to its customers, while reflecting the dedication to offering a high-quality experience in a paradisiacal seaside setting: [A] Mar. Visitors can rest assured that although the name has changed, the spirit of the place, its unique essence, and its outstanding service remain intact. This name change marks a new chapter in the chiringuito’s story, establishing it as an essential meeting point on the island.

Chiringuito [A]Mar

One of the biggest attractions of Chiringuito Amar is its culinary offering. Its diverse menu is designed to satisfy all palates, from the simplest to the most sophisticated. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of options, including fresh salads, tasty snacks ideal for sharing, and more elaborate main courses inspired by Mediterranean flavors.

Among the standout dishes are fresh fish from the island and grilled meats. For those looking for lighter or quicker options, the chiringuito offers delicious sandwiches, burgers, tapas, and small plates.

Chiringuito Amar is also famous for its extensive drinks menu, which features cocktails, local and international wines, and an excellent selection of beers. Health-conscious guests will find a variety of fresh juices made to order with seasonal fruits, perfect for cooling off on a hot beach day.

I’m Ramón Tur, the person behind everything written and photographed on this website about Formentera. I discovered the island in 1972 when my parents, aboard the mythical Joven Dolores, took me on vacation from Ibiza for the first time, and it was love at first sight that has only grown stronger over time, making Formentera my place of residence for many years now.
